Florida College of Missionary Aviation

This weekend my family took a detour to visit the Florida College of Missionary Aviation during our family vacation. What an experience! Some friends recommended it a while back, so after a bit of research, we thought it would be worth a visit. After reading the website I was pretty excited but after visiting, there was this inexplainable peace and “knowing” that Keystone Heights would be my home for a couple years in the future! I truly believe God’s Spirit was leading! The college offers everything I need to get a degree in missions with a concentration in missions aviation which includes the commercial pilots license and A&P (Aircraft Mechanic) license. An exciting feature of the college is the cost. Amazingly, it is much lower than the majority of missions aviation colleges which is a much appreciated blessing! Some pros and cons to attending this college include:

  • Not too many students which means more one-on-one help
  • Girl’s housing is in a Christian retirement community which has its own library and gym
  • The college is near some relatives and friends (My family moved from Florida in 2010)
  • Cost is less expensive than most missions aviation colleges
  • Drive home is only 10 hours, which is less than the drive from other colleges that I have looked into

  • College is only 1 year old
    …Currently, I can’t think of any more cons. 🙂

Incredibly, I was not the only one who had an immense peace and joy about this college…my parents did too! Both mom and dad were extremely impressed as the president of the college escorted us around the site. Not only were we pleased with the facility, but also with the staff and a student we met. There was a peace about the place that is sort of hard to explain in writing but all my fears of attending a college disappeared.
Currently, Yahweh has not given me the red or green light when it comes to attending this college, or any college at all. However, it is my earnest prayer that if it is His plan, I will attend this college in the near future. Please join me in praying that Yahweh will provide an answer and that whether it be yes or no, I will trust Yahweh, that He will take care of the future. Thank you for your prayers!

Prayer: A Guide to Saving Money

Since I was a little girl, I knew that seeking Yahweh’s guidance should be as habitual in minor everyday issues as it is in major life-changing issues. However, this point didn’t really strike home with me until the day I lost my iPod. Our family was about to leave on a long road trip and I was desperately searching for the missing electronic, but to no avail. (A 10 hour trip in a car with seven children can be long and noisy without my classical music and hymns. 😀 ) As the time drew near for us to depart, I hastily offered $5 to the sibling who could find it’s hiding place. My sister Gabriela, eager for the extra money, sped off…and triumphantly returned with my iPod a minute or two later. Sensing treachery, I demanded to know how she found it so quickly. She said, “I prayed, and God told me it was in the drawer next to the bed.” The rest of the day, all I could think about was how I lost $5 because I didn’t pray. Although the reasoning may have been selfish at the time, this example has remained a reminder that prayer should be first…even for the little things.
